Three men appeared before a San Fernando High Court Master jointly charged with two offences arising out of an incident on April 20.
Naresh Joseph, a 34-year-old security officer, Ricardo Baptiste, a 24-year-old security officer, and Renando Baptiste, a 22-year-old security officer, appeared before Master Sarah De Silva yesterday, charged jointly with home invasion and malicious damage.
The charges stem from an incident which took place on April 20.
Police reports indicate that the 42-year-old victim was at a bar where he had a verbal dispute with the three accused. He later returned to his home at Philippine Road, San Fernando.
Later that night, at approximately 11 pm, the suspects allegedly went to the victim’s home and began throwing objects, damaging a window and a sheet of plyboard. Investigators said the suspects then entered the victim’s home, where a scuffle ensued.
Police said one of the suspects, a Firearm User’s Licence holder, was allegedly armed with a firearm and made threats to kill, while the other two made threats of violence towards the victim. Family members eventually quelled the altercation and removed the suspects from the premises.
The matter was reported to the San Fernando Police Station, and PC Cabrera led the investigation. Following enquiries, officers received instructions to charge the three men with the offences.
The accused were each granted bail of $200,000 with surety and are awaiting a sufficiency hearing date
