Three suspects were arrested and two firearms seized by officers during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Central and Southern Divisions yesterday.
In the first incident, officers of the Chaguanas Police Station Court and Process Branch were conducting an exercise in the Freeport district around 1:05 pm, on Monday 20th November, 2023, when they stopped a motor vehicle with two male occupants.
A search of the vehicle reportedly resulted in the discovery of a shotgun.
The two suspects, both aged 26, of the Couva district were arrested
in connection with the find.
In the second incident, officers of the Southern Division Task Force conducted an anti-crime exercise around 3:20 pm yesterday, during which they executed a search warrant at the Pleasantville home of a 38-year-old man.
The search resulted in officers finding allegedly one Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect who was on the premises at the time of the search was arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing into the two incidents.
