Three held on highway minutes after Debe robbery

Three sus­pects were ar­rest­ed with­in min­utes of a re­port of a rob­bery which oc­curred in the Debe dis­trict on Wednes­day. 

Re­ports in­di­cate that two vic­tims were in the dis­trict when they were ac­cost­ed by two male sus­pects who an­nounced a rob­bery. 

The vic­tims were re­lieved of a quan­ti­ty of cash and jew­ellery be­fore the sus­pects made their es­cape in an await­ing Nis­san Almera mo­tor ve­hi­cle. 

A re­port was made to the Debe High­way Pa­trol and a co­or­di­nat­ed ef­fort was made by the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Gang Unit in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Freeport Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), the High­way Pa­trol South and Cen­tral and the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force, to lo­cate the sus­pects. The Almera was sub­se­quent­ly in­ter­cept­ed along the north­bound lane of the Sir Solomon Ho­choy High­way in the vicin­i­ty of Brent­wood Gar­dens.

Po­lice say three sus­pects, ages 19 to 41, of San Juan and Mor­vant, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent. 

Of­fi­cers al­so dis­cov­ered one par­tial­ly de­stroyed im­i­ta­tion firearm. 

The sus­pects were want­ed in con­nec­tion with a sim­i­lar rob­bery in­ci­dent in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing. 

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by In­sp. (Ag.) Jit­mans­ingh, In­sp. (Ag.) Dood­nath, Sgt. (Ag.) Har­ri­lal, Sgt. (Ag.) Dublin, Sgt. (Ag.) Ger­vais, Cpl (Ag.) Ra­j­pat and Cpl (Ag.) Davis of the Cen­tral and South West­ern Di­vi­sions.
