A teenag­er, a se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer and the own­er of a Chi­nese su­per­mar­ket were killed on Wednes­day night in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents, bring­ing the mur­der count to 125.

In the first in­ci­dent, dur­ing a rob­bery at Ho Sing Su­per­mar­ket at Marchin Road, Cunu­pia, the se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer was shot when he at­tempt­ed to the stop three ban­dits from rob­bing the es­tab­lish­ment.

The own­er of the su­per­mar­ket, who is a Chi­nese na­tion­al, al­so was shot.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at about 7 pm.

Po­lice said the se­cu­ri­ty guard, 44-year-old Devin­dra Ma­haraj, of Navet Vil­lage, Rio Claro, was shot sev­er­al times in the back. He was pro­nounced dead at the Ch­agua­nas Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty.

The own­er of the su­per­mar­ket, whose name was not dis­closed, suc­cumbed to his in­juries at 1 am, at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex.

Po­lice said the get­away car, a grey Hon­da Ac­cord, be­lieved to be used by the ban­dits, was found aban­doned at John Pe­ters Road in Char­lieville.

Of­fi­cers from Ch­agua­nas po­lice and the Homi­cide Bu­reau Re­gion III are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.

In the sec­ond un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, a 16-year-old boy was gunned down in Laven­tille.

He was iden­ti­fied as Matthew Samuel of Whar­ton Street, Laven­tille.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 10 pm, res­i­dents heard sev­er­al gun­shots.

Samuel was lat­er found bleed­ing from mul­ti­ple gun­shot in­juries.

He was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he suc­cumbed to his wounds.

Po­lice are yet to de­ter­mine a mo­tive for his killing.
