Three men were ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion short­ly af­ter a re­port of rob­bery with ag­gra­va­tion in the Curepe dis­trict on Tues­day.

The vic­tim re­port­ed to po­lice that around 1:30 pm, she was at her Curepe work­place when four masked men, one armed with a gun, en­tered and an­nounced a rob­bery.

She al­leged the men stole an as­sort­ment of goods and a quan­ti­ty of cash be­fore es­cap­ing in an await­ing sil­ver X-Trail mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

A re­port was made to the po­lice and of­fi­cers of the St. Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion, as­sist­ed by Task Force of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to in­ter­cept the ve­hi­cle and the sus­pects.

Through co­or­di­nat­ed ef­forts, the of­fi­cers blocked both sides of the East­ern Main Road be­tween Hut­ton Road and Farm Road, St. Joseph, where the ve­hi­cle was seen pro­ceed­ing at a high rate of speed.

As the ve­hi­cle ap­proached the road­block, the of­fi­cers al­leged that one of the oc­cu­pants point­ed an ob­ject re­sem­bling a firearm at them.

The po­lice re­port said in keep­ing with the Use of Force Pol­i­cy, an of­fi­cer dis­charged his firearm in the di­rec­tion of the ve­hi­cle.

The ve­hi­cle even­tu­al­ly came to a stop a short dis­tance away and four oc­cu­pants ex­it­ed and at­tempt­ed to flee.

A search of the sur­round­ing area re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of three of the sus­pects, one of whom sus­tained a gun­shot wound to the up­per left shoul­der.

He was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex for treat­ment.

Po­lice re­ports con­firm that quan­ti­ties of goods and cash were re­cov­ered from the ve­hi­cle.

As­sis­tance was sought from the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force, Area East, the Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol and the Air Sup­port Unit to lo­cate the fourth sus­pect and a firearm.

The three sus­pects, ages 18 to 26 years, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent.

Mean­while, in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers of the Gran Cou­va Po­lice Sta­tion, re­ceived in­for­ma­tion that led them to a forest­ed area in the Preysal dis­trict around 6:15 pm.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, the of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a search that re­sult­ed in the dis­cov­ery of a hand grenade un­der a gal­va­nize struc­ture.

The Bomb De­tec­tion Unit was con­tact­ed and made the de­vice safe while search­es were made for sec­ondary de­vices in the sur­round­ing ar­eas.
