Three teenagers are missing from the Rainbow Rescue, a home for socially displaced boys in Maraval.
According to police reports, teenagers Aiden Chance, 13, Zion Matthews, 14, and Navindra Mahabir, 15, escaped from the home on Saddle Road around 4 pm on Saturday. A report was made to the St Clair Police Station at around 8.50 pm.
Chance was last seen wearing a green and blue jersey and a pair of red, short pants. He is of African descent and dark brown in complexion with short hair. Matthews who is also if African descent was last seen wearing a green jersey and a pair of blue pants. He is five feet, six inches tall, dark brown in complexion and of slim build with short hair. Mahabir was last seen wearing an orange jersey and a pair of green, short pants. He is of East Indian descent, light brown in complexion and of slim build with short, black hair.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the three boys is asked to call the St Clair Police Station at 622-4565 or 800-TIPS, contact the police at 555, 999, 911, or call any police station.
Guardian Media called the home for more information on their escape but was told to call back on Monday.
Rainbow Rescue is a non-government organisation (NGO) incorporated on November 16, 1999, under the Companies Act, 1995 of Trinidad and Tobago.
It was formed out of a deep concern for the increasing number of children forced to survive on the city streets due to poverty, breakdown in family life and/or social services.
Minister responsible for Gender and Child Affairs Ayanna Webster-Roy was also contacted for an update on the wards’ whereabouts and efforts being made to find them but there was no response up to press time.
Back in 2021, two of five teenagers who escaped from the Children’s Authority were murdered in Laventille. They were identified as Antonio Francois, 15 and Semion Daniel, 15.
