Both the Scar­bor­ough Sec­ondary School and Lam­beau An­gli­can Pri­ma­ry School re­opened to­day af­ter they were tem­porar­i­ly closed, for al­most two weeks, due to the oil spill dis­as­ter.

The Di­vi­sion of Ed­u­ca­tion, Re­search & Tech­nol­o­gy is­sued a re­lease say­ing it has en­sured that both schools un­der­went a thor­ough clean­ing process­es, in­clud­ing the san­i­ti­za­tion of class­rooms, fa­cil­i­ties, and com­mon ar­eas.

In ad­di­tion, ex­ten­sive coastal clean-ups have been con­duct­ed to ad­dress any ex­ter­nal con­t­a­m­i­na­tion, and there­fore stu­dents and staff are as­sured of a safe en­vi­ron­ment.

Both the En­vi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Au­thor­i­ty and the In­sti­tute of Ma­rine Af­fairs have done air qual­i­ty test­ing at the schools and have con­firmed there are no pol­lu­tants or haz­ards in the air.
