The Tobago House of Assembly election date has been set for December 6.
Guardian Media took to the streets of Scarborough Tobago to find out how Tobagonians feel about the upcoming election and the addition of three new electoral districts in Tobago.
Curtis Archie- When I heard about the election date, I smiled, I think the island has definitely welcomed the idea of the date and it’s interesting, let’s see what happens.
Errol Gibbs- As a citizen of this country, and a law-abiding citizen, I see nothing wrong with it, it is what the people need, what the people require, what the country requires, I see nothing wrong with it. Let people go and decide who they want to represent them and stop all the arguments and fuss and fighting. We don’t need to fuss and fight, every little thing gonna be alright.
Errol White- I don’t think that we really needed all those seats, I think adding one more seat would have been fine, to make it 13.
Lisa Mulcara- I find it is unfair because we are accustomed to 12 and how just 15 come in, I find the Prime Minister was too hard about it. He could have left it as 6-6 again, don’t put it as 15.
Preston Trim- The new additional seats that they put in is something good, it was actually created to break the deadlock, in the sense of the tie that we have right now to kind of prevent the tie. But then we have 15 so if we have three parties and we also have the tie, that is 5-5-5.
Mr Sheppard- Every year is the same thing, I just going with the flow, how it hang it swing, I just want betterment for me, my children and the people.
