Toco man charged with breaching protection order granted $70,000 bail

A 44-year-old man from To­co was grant­ed $70,000 bail when he ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Sarah De Sil­va at the San­gre Grande Mag­is­trates’ Court charged with two counts of Breach of Pro­tec­tion Or­der. He is ex­pect­ed to reap­pear in court on Jan­u­ary 19th.  

As part of the bail con­di­tions, the ac­cused can­not com­mu­ni­cate un­less it con­cerns the wel­fare of their child. He must al­so re­port once per week to a po­lice sta­tion in the East­ern dis­trict.   

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, on Sep­tem­ber 12th at around 3.15 pm a woman was at her home, when her ex-hus­band ar­rived to drop off their daugh­ter. 

Whilst there he al­leged­ly used threat­en­ing lan­guage, caus­ing the woman to fear for her life. Al­so on the Sep­tem­ber, the woman was at her home when her ex­hus­band again al­leged­ly used threat­en­ing lan­guage, caus­ing her to fear for her life. Of­fi­cers of the To­co Spe­cial Vic­tims De­part­ment con­duct­ed an in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the mat­ter.  

As a re­sult of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion the ac­cused was ar­rest­ed and charged. Charges were laid by WPC Far­ri­er. The ex­er­cise was in­ves­ti­gat­ed by Su­per­in­ten­dent Claire GuyAl­leyne, W/ASP Bridge­lal, and W/In­spec­tor Bac­chus.
