Tourists robbed in string of PoS incidents

Two Ger­man and two Dutch vis­i­tors were among sev­er­al peo­ple robbed in a string of in­ci­dents in Port-of-Spain on Sun­day evening.

Po­lice said the tourists were stand­ing near the Diego Mar­tin maxi-taxi hub short­ly af­ter 5 pm, when they were at­tacked by two ban­dits.

One of the as­sailants be­gan chok­ing one of the Dutch na­tion­als, while the oth­er an­nounced a rob­bery.

The men stole sev­er­al bank cards and $600 in cash, be­fore run­ning off along Wright­son Road.

Less than an hour lat­er, a woman was load­ing fur­ni­ture on­to a truck near her Lange Street, Gon­za­les apart­ment when she was con­front­ed by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

The gun­man stole her mo­bile phone and or­dered her to leave the apart­ment. She com­plied, and the men es­caped.

And in a third in­ci­dent on Sun­day night, a Freeport man was us­ing a Sco­tia­bank ATM on In­de­pen­dence Square just af­ter 9.30 pm, when he was at­tacked by three men.

They stole his phone and cash be­fore flee­ing.

Of­fi­cers of the Port-of-Spain CID are in­ves­ti­gat­ing all three cas­es.
