Op­por­tu­ni­ties for deep­er col­lab­o­ra­tion in mul­ti­ple sec­tors in­clud­ing the ar­eas of ed­u­ca­tion and sport were ex­plored when the Colom­bian am­bas­sador met with Sean Sobers, Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs, on Wednes­day this week.

The Min­istry re­ports that His Ex­cel­len­cy William Sid­ney Bush Howard, Am­bas­sador of the Re­pub­lic of Colom­bia to the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go, had a “fruit­ful ex­change” on en­hanc­ing bi­lat­er­al re­la­tions be­tween both coun­ties when he met with Min­is­ter Sobers and his team.

“Dis­cus­sions fo­cused on deep­en­ing co­op­er­a­tion in key sec­tors in­clud­ing trade, ed­u­ca­tion, agri­cul­ture, sport, and cul­tur­al ex­change,” a Min­istry state­ment re­ports, as it de­scribed the his­tor­i­cal re­la­tion­ship be­tween both na­tions as “warm and en­dur­ing”.

Trinidad and To­ba­go and Colom­bia es­tab­lished for­mal diplo­mat­ic re­la­tions on Feb­ru­ary 22, 1968.

The Min­istry says since then, the part­ner­ship has been marked by cor­dial­i­ty and co­op­er­a­tion, ground­ed in mu­tu­al re­spect and a shared vi­sion for re­gion­al progress.
