T&T records another COVID-19 death

An­oth­er per­son has died from a COVID-19 in­fec­tion tak­ing the virus’ to­tal death count lo­cal­ly up to 130.

Ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of Health’s dai­ly up­date, the per­son was an el­der­ly fe­male with co­mor­bidi­ties.

The Min­istry al­so con­firmed 15 new in­fec­tions yes­ter­day from sam­ples col­lect­ed be­tween Jan­u­ary 11 and 13.

Of these are two peo­ple from To­ba­go. This brought the to­tal num­ber of in­fec­tions to be record­ed in the coun­try up to 7,320.

The to­tal num­ber of peo­ple to re­cov­er al­so rose to 6,896 af­ter the min­istry re­leased five peo­ple from home self-iso­la­tion as re­cov­ered com­mu­ni­ty cas­es.

Ac­tive cas­es now stand at 294. Of these 32 are in hos­pi­tals, 17 are in step-down/tran­si­tion­al fa­cil­i­ties while 230 are in home self-iso­la­tion.

There are 225 peo­ple in state quar­an­tine fa­cil­i­ties.
