TTMS monitoring low-pressure system in Atlantic

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice is close­ly mon­i­tor­ing a low-pres­sure sys­tem in the At­lantic that has a 90% chance of de­vel­op­ment in­to a Trop­i­cal De­pres­sion.

The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the TTMS:

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice (TTMS) has been close­ly mon­i­tor­ing a low-pres­sure sys­tem in the At­lantic which has a 90% (high) chance of de­vel­op­ment in­to a Trop­i­cal De­pres­sion over the next 48 hours.

The sys­tem is lo­cat­ed at ap­prox­i­mate­ly 2200 km east of the Wind­ward Is­lands, cen­tred near 10N 40W and is mov­ing west­ward near 19 km/hr.

Cur­rent analy­ses sug­gest that on its pro­ject­ed track, the cen­tre of the sys­tem is fore­cast to reach the South­ern Wind­ward Is­lands by Sat­ur­day morn­ing and is ex­pect­ed to move north of Trinidad and To­ba­go.

The TTMS will con­tin­ue to close­ly mon­i­tor this sys­tem and will is­sue an up­date at 6:00 pm to­day or ear­li­er if the sit­u­a­tion war­rants.
