The Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPOST) has confirmed the delivery of all polling cards in its possession to citizens ahead of today’s General Election.

Managing Director George Alexis explained the Easter holidays had initially delayed the distribution process.

Alexis explained that the Election and Boundaries Commission’s (EBC) printing process only allowed for 100 per cent of the cards to be completed by Holy Thursday, a situation further complicated by the added responsibility of distributing pensions.

However, he assured that the exercise was completed on Saturday.

Furthermore, he stated that TTPOST will not be able to confirm whether all poll cards have been collected by nationals until later this week, noting that TTPOST rents over 10,000 boxes for mail collection. He also advised that communities with shared mailboxes should ensure they are checked as well.

Citizens who have not received their poll cards are reminded that they can still vote today, election day, as long as their name appears on the revised list of electors and they possess a valid form of identification.

Despite finding out just three days earlier—on December 23—that I had breast cancer, I still got dressed and showed up on December 26, Boxing Day, for a birthday party. I didn’t go to escape the truth. I went to remind myself I was still here, still living, still me.
