The po­lice ser­vice has is­sued a state­ment de­bunk­ing what it calls false news af­ter graph­ic pic­tures be­gan cir­cu­lat­ing of a shark be­ing found and cut open with body parts falling out.

Be­low is the full state­ment from the TTPS:

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice is re­mind­ing mem­bers of the pub­lic to be cau­tious of false in­for­ma­tion sent via so­cial me­dia, which can cause un­nec­es­sary pan­ic and anx­i­ety.

FACT 1: Pho­tos cir­cu­lat­ing on so­cial me­dia show­ing hu­man re­mains in­side a dead shark did not orig­i­nate from Trinidad and To­ba­go.

FACT 2: The per­sons seen in the pho­to bring­ing the dead shark ashore, are not mem­bers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Coast Guard

FACT 3: Two fish­er­men; 30-year-old Ja­son Bap­tiste and 19-year-old Justin Kissoon, still re­main miss­ing at sea.
