The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) stat­ed that a po­lice of­fi­cer has been ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the al­leged sub­sti­tu­tion of seized nar­cotics at the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion.

Po­lice stat­ed that the mat­ter is un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion and is be­ing han­dled through in­ter­nal and crim­i­nal in­ves­tiga­tive process­es.

The TTPS stat­ed that the in­ci­dent fol­lows an­oth­er case de­tect­ed ear­li­er in 2025 which al­so re­sult­ed in the ar­rest and charg­ing of a po­lice of­fi­cer.

Po­lice stat­ed that the mat­ters show that the or­gan­i­sa­tion will in­ves­ti­gate al­le­ga­tions in­volv­ing of­fi­cers.

The TTPS stat­ed that most of­fi­cers serve with in­tegri­ty and car­ry out du­ties re­lat­ed to pub­lic safe­ty, but ac­tion will be tak­en against of­fi­cers who com­mit of­fences.

Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro said that of­fi­cers who use the or­gan­i­sa­tion to com­mit crim­i­nal acts will face ac­tion.

Gue­var­ro stat­ed, “Let me be clear that any of­fi­cer who be­lieves they can use this or­ga­ni­za­tion as a shield for crim­i­nal ac­tiv­i­ty is grave­ly mis­tak­en. If you choose to en­gage in wrong­do­ing, you will be found, you will be re­moved, and you will face the full brunt of the law.”

Gue­var­ro said that the TTPS will not al­low of­fi­cers to dam­age the or­gan­i­sa­tion.

The TTPS called on mem­bers of the pub­lic to pro­vide in­for­ma­tion and re­port ac­tiv­i­ty to po­lice.

Po­lice stat­ed that co­op­er­a­tion from the pub­lic as­sists in iden­ti­fy­ing of­fi­cers in­volved in wrong­do­ing.

The TTPS stat­ed that the or­gan­i­sa­tion re­mains com­mit­ted to trans­paren­cy and ac­count­abil­i­ty and will con­tin­ue to work with the pub­lic on safe­ty in Trinidad and To­ba­go.
