The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that a police officer has been arrested in connection with the alleged substitution of seized narcotics at the Chaguanas Police Station.
Police stated that the matter is under investigation and is being handled through internal and criminal investigative processes.
The TTPS stated that the incident follows another case detected earlier in 2025 which also resulted in the arrest and charging of a police officer.
Police stated that the matters show that the organisation will investigate allegations involving officers.
The TTPS stated that most officers serve with integrity and carry out duties related to public safety, but action will be taken against officers who commit offences.
Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro said that officers who use the organisation to commit criminal acts will face action.
Guevarro stated, “Let me be clear that any officer who believes they can use this organization as a shield for criminal activity is gravely mistaken. If you choose to engage in wrongdoing, you will be found, you will be removed, and you will face the full brunt of the law.”
Guevarro said that the TTPS will not allow officers to damage the organisation.
The TTPS called on members of the public to provide information and report activity to police.
Police stated that cooperation from the public assists in identifying officers involved in wrongdoing.
The TTPS stated that the organisation remains committed to transparency and accountability and will continue to work with the public on safety in Trinidad and Tobago.
