The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) conducted 426 anti-crime and road safety operations across all ten Police Divisions over the Divali weekend. The exercises took place between 6 a.m. on Thursday 16th October, 2025, and 6 a.m. on Tuesday 21st October, 2025.
According to the TTPS, the operations resulted in six firearm seizures, including three rifles, along with 176 rounds of assorted ammunition. Officers also seized 77.39 kilogrammes of cannabis and 386.8 grammes of cocaine.
During the period, 2,881 vehicle and premises searches were conducted, while 282 road traffic operations were carried out. Police detected 2,042 road traffic offences, targeted 113 priority offenders, and arrested 161 persons.
The TTPS stated that the operations focused on major roadways and were informed by intelligence gathered in accordance with the State of Emergency Regulations. Police maintained a presence around national installations, business places, government buildings, residential communities, and Divali celebrations to ensure visibility throughout the country.
The exercises were coordinated by Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Curt Simon, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Richard Smith, and all Divisional Heads. Divisional Commanders and senior officers participated in the operations.
The TTPS expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation during the exercises. It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the safety and security of citizens and encouraged continued public support in its efforts to ensure a safer Trinidad and Tobago.
