The website of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service went offline earlier this year due to unpaid bills to its external service provider, Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander said in the Senate on Wednesday.
He said the disruption began in February and extended into early March 2026 after invoices for hosting and maintenance — including one from 2025 and another for 2026 — remained outstanding.
The outage raised concern among members of the public, as the website serves as the primary open source for national crime statistics, with some questioning the absence of data during the downtime.
Alexander said the issue has since been addressed and the website is now back online, but warned some features may still be temporarily unavailable as maintenance and upgrades continue to improve the platform’s functionality and resilience.
During a supplemental question, Opposition Senator Amery Browne asked:
“What is being done to prevent recurrence of the non-payment issue referred to by the Minister?”
Alexander responded:
“Mr. President, the Commissioner of Police, as you are aware, is the Accounting Officer, so I will have to get advice from him if I was to answer that question any further.”
