Kaiso Showkase says it is noting with concern the allegations against its
Executive and by extension tent manager that a Calypsonian attached to our tent was barred from performing their song "Political commentary."
The claim was made by Lady Gypsy (Lynette Steele) yesterday who said she has been barred by the tent’s management from singing the calypso which is highly critical of the ruling People’s National Movement (PNM).
However, in a media release, Kaiso Showkase said, "The allegations are not true in any way."
It said contrary to the claims, the Calypsonian performed her political commentary song at Sunday’s (29) Clash with Kaiso Karavan at Spots Entertainment Centre in Arima.
TUCO added that on opening night- Friday, January 27, at Palms Club San Fernando its tribute show to the late Dr Leroy Calliste (Black Stalin), Lady Gypsy opted on her own volition to stay in line with the theme and perform another song called; One Moment of Glory which made reference and paid homage to the late Black Stalin.
Therefore, Kaiso Showkase said it "categorically denies any mandate or instruction given to deny the calypsonian from singing their song."
