Two arrested - firearms, ammunition and drugs seized

Two men were ar­rest­ed and a firearm, am­mu­ni­tion and drugs seized dur­ing an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es in West­ern Di­vi­sion last evening.

The TTPS says dur­ing the ex­er­cise of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a search war­rant at a home in Spar­row Dri­ve, Pe­tit Val­ley, where one Smith and Wes­son firearm, one mag­a­zine and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion were re­port­ed­ly found in the ceil­ing of the house. Of­fi­cers al­so found one hun­dred and fifty grams of mar­i­jua­na at the same lo­ca­tion.

Both oc­cu­pants of the home at the time were ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Four Roads Po­lice Sta­tion along with the il­le­gal items.

The ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed by mem­bers of the West End Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment and the West­ern Di­vi­sion­al Gang and In­tel­li­gence Unit. It was spear­head­ed by Snr. Supt. Hen­ry, co­or­di­nat­ed by ASP Lynch and su­per­vised by Cpl Gar­cia, Cpl Hug­gins and Cpl Khan lead­ing a team of of­fi­cers with the sup­port of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, the Guard and Emer­gency Branch, West­ern Di­vi­sion­al Traf­fic Unit, the Di­vi­sion­al Sup­port Unit and K9.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, of­fi­cers of the Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sion ex­e­cut­ed an ex­er­cise at Bel­mont based on in­tel­li­gence in­for­ma­tion, up­on ar­rival the sus­pects fled the scene.

The of­fi­cers gave chase, but it proved fu­tile.

A search of the area was done and Pc Cu­pi­dore found one mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 21 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion. A search war­rant for arms and am­mu­ni­tion was ex­e­cut­ed at a home in Men­tor Al­ley, how­ev­er, noth­ing il­le­gal was found.

The of­fi­cers then searched a bushy area and found 435 grams of mar­i­jua­na and one mag­a­zine in a black bag.
