Ten years after police officer Montgomery Guy was killed, two people have been freed of his murder.
Guy , 49, was shot in the head on October 4. The officer, who had 13 years’ service at the time, was driving along Agra Street in St James when he was shot.
It was reported that a man and woman were seen running after the shooting.
On October 1, Justice Trevor Jones found Abdias Simeon Julien and Khadija Robertson not guilty of the murder.
The former accused took part in a judge alone trial which began on September 2 and ended 13 days later. The state, represented by Solange Devenish and Josiah Soo-Hon, tendered 37 statements and called three witnesses in the matter.
Julien, of Dibe Long Circular was 19 at the time of the killing. He gave evidence on his own behalf, claiming self defence. He was represented by Darryl Douglas and Renee Atwell.
Jones found that the state’s case was not proven against both defendants resulting in the not guilty ruling.
