Two Arou­ca men were ar­rest­ed min­utes af­ter they tried to shoot an­oth­er man at his home on Tues­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the man was at his Bertie Road, Five Rivers, home when he no­ticed a group of men with guns.

The gun­men en­tered the un­locked house and fired at the man but missed be­fore es­cap­ing.

Of­fi­cers of the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion and the North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force were called in and ar­rest­ed two men, aged 31 and 34.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent be­gan ear­li­er on Tues­day af­ter­noon when the vic­tim was con­front­ed by one of the men, who re­port­ed­ly drove a car di­rect­ly to­wards him.

The vic­tim, who was car­ry­ing an air pis­tol, point­ed it at the at­tack­er, caus­ing him to leave.

Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors found two spent 9 mm shells at the scene.
