Two men were ar­rest­ed with the be­long­ings of a rob­bery vic­tim on Fri­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the vic­tim went to the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion just af­ter 8 am and re­port­ed that ban­dits had stolen his car on First Street, Five Rivers.

Of­fi­cers of the North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force and the Arou­ca CID went with the man to the area, where he iden­ti­fied one of the sus­pects cross­ing the Prime Min­is­ter’s Park in Five Rivers.

When the sus­pect saw the marked po­lice car, he ran, but of­fi­cers chased and ar­rest­ed him. A search of the man un­cov­ered cash and an ID card be­long­ing to the vic­tim.

While still at the scene, po­lice re­ceived in­for­ma­tion and went to a house on Ba­len­tyne Road, Five Rivers, where they ar­rest­ed an­oth­er man be­lieved to be the sec­ond sus­pect.

Both men were tak­en to the Arou­ca and St Joseph Po­lice Sta­tions for ques­tion­ing.
