Two men re­main hos­pi­talised fol­low­ing a mid-morn­ing shoot­ing in Laven­tille yes­ter­day.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred around 10.30 am at the bas­ket­ball court in John John, Quar­ry Road, Laven­tille.

Po­lice said a 50-year-old man of no fixed place of abode was shot mul­ti­ple times and had to un­der­go emer­gency surgery, while a 45-year-old man of Pic­ton Road, Laven­tille, was shot twice in the left leg.

Of­fi­cers on mo­bile pa­trol were alert­ed about the shoot­ing by res­i­dents in the area, and ar­rived to find blood and four spent 9 mm shells on the road.

Res­i­dents who re­spond­ed when the in­ci­dent oc­curred rushed the in­jured men to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Of­fi­cers vis­it­ed the hos­pi­tal, where they were in­formed that both men had been treat­ed and were in a sta­ble con­di­tion.
