A 38-year-old man from Mara­cas St Joseph was shot mul­ti­ple times by gun­men while at his home on Wednes­day night.

The get­away ve­hi­cle used by the gun­men was lat­er found aban­doned in the area not too long af­ter the shoot­ing by po­lice.

The vic­tim has been iden­ti­fied as Ker­ry Mata­moro of La Rue Pomme, Mara­cas St Joseph.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 7:42 pm, neigh­bours heard sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions and up­on check­ing saw Mata­moro ly­ing in his yard at the back of his home nurs­ing sev­er­al gun­shot wounds about his body.

The po­lice were called in and up­on ar­rival saw neigh­bours putting Mata­moro in a car to be tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex for med­ical treat­ment. He was how­ev­er pro­nounced dead on ar­rival at the hos­pi­tal.

A par­ty of of­fi­cers who al­so re­spond­ed to the shoot­ing re­ceived in­for­ma­tion that the sus­pects es­caped in a white Nis­san Ad van.

Of­fi­cers from the North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force 07 and North­ern Di­vi­sion Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol 50 and St Joseph

Mo­bile 01 al­so re­spond­ed and the ve­hi­cle was found aban­doned and still idling along San­ta Bar­bara Road, Mara­cas St Joseph at about 8:25 pm.

In an­oth­er un­re­lat­ed homi­cide in St Joseph, De­vanand Ram­rat­tan, 36, of Val­sayn Trace St Joseph and an­oth­er man, 35, of Up­per Mendez Dri­ve Champ Fleurs were stand­ing in the yard out­side Ram­rat­tan’s friend's home, when they were ap­proached by a lone gun­man, wear­ing a mask, who opened fire.

Ram­rat­tan col­lapsed out­side a door on the north­ern side of the house where he died. His friend was shot in the leg and lat­er tak­en for med­ical treat­ment.

The gun­man es­caped.

Po­lice are yet to de­ter­mine mo­tives in the two killings.
