Two men were killed and two others injured in separate shootings in San Juan and La Horquetta on Sunday night.

In San Juan, police said 18-year-old Aaron Henry, of Thomas Street, was gunned down around 7.45 pm while playing cards in a yard off Concord Road. A 30-year-old man was also wounded in the attack.

Witnesses told police a dark-coloured Nissan SUV drove into the dead-end street, turned around and stopped in front of Henry’s yard. Gunmen then opened fire before speeding off.

Henry and the injured man were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where Henry was pronounced dead. The other victim remains in serious but stable condition.

Investigators found 5.56mm and 9mm shells at the scene, leading to the belief that at least two shooters were involved.

Police suspect the killing may be linked to gang activity.

Homicide officers were also called to La Horquetta, where a 26-year-old man was shot dead and a woman wounded while sitting outside a shop on Charlie Davis Street, Phase 4, at 10.35 pm.

A white Nissan Tiida pulled up and gunmen opened fire on the victims, who tried to run but collapsed nearby.

They were taken to the Arima Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead. The woman, 31, who was shot in both legs, was later transferred to Mount Hope and is in stable condition.

Investigations are continuing.
