The number of fatal road accidents has increased by two as Angellia Jackson and Kamal Sharma were victims of two separate crashes. Jackson, 25, of St Mary's, Moruga, was the passenger of a B13 driven by Sean Augustine. The vehicle was heading east along the M1 Ring Road in St Madeleine. A pick-up truck was approaching from the opposite direction when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with Augustine's car. Jackson died on the spot.
Jackson's father, Anthony John who is a sergeant with Trinidad and Tobago Defence Unit, said he spoke with his daughter at 9 am yesterday.
John said: "She always calls to tell her daddy good morning. My daughter was married to Colin Jackson, but they are separated. She and Augustine went to lime at the Wilkes Pub in Cocoyea. Then a while after, I got the call that she had died." Corporal Dwight Hall, of the Princes Town Police Station, is investigating. In another incident, a 44-year-old man died in vehicular smash-up on Mosquito Creek, San Fernando.
A 26-year-old man, of Woodland, was driving along the Creek and attempted to turn into Oropouche when another driver, heading in the opposite direction, overtook a line of traffic. A collision followed.
The overtaking car flipped over, and according to an eyewitness, the occupant of the backseat, Sharma, was thrown from the vehicle. He died on the spot. Sharma was a resident of Cipero Road, Golconda Village. Acting ASP Basdeo, acting Insp Ramnanan and Corporal Samuel of the South Oropouche Police Station are conducting investigations.
