Police believe the same man was behind two robberies reported just hours apart on Tuesday morning in Cunupia.

Around 4 am, a 54-year-old woman was walking along Hassarath Road near Esmeralda Gardens when a man armed with a knife approached her and stole her bag, which contained two cellphones, $400 in cash and other personal items. He then ran off.

The suspect was described as being of African descent, slim-built, bareback, and wearing torn grey three-quarter pants.

Around 7.30 am, a grocery store manager on the same road was about to leave home when a man walked into his bedroom and announced a robbery.

The manager tried to wrestle the knife from the intruder but was cut on both arms during the struggle. The suspect escaped with the victim's wallet.

Police said the description in both incidents matched, and they are treating the two robberies as connected.
