Central Division police are investigating four separate, unrelated violent incidents that took place across the district on Saturday—two shootings and two stabbings.
The first incident happened just after midnight when a couple at their Feroze Avenue, Brianna Drive, Cunupia, apartment heard gunshots outside. They later discovered several bullet holes in the front windscreen of their white Nissan SUV. Cunupia police responded and recovered 13 spent 9 mm shells at the scene.
Around 12.30 pm, a 42-year-old soldier was stabbed multiple times during a drive along Polo Ground Road, Preysal. Police said he was involved in an argument with the person sitting behind him, who then attacked him. The injured man pulled over and ran out with a passenger, while the attacker jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off with another relative still in the vehicle. The soldier was hospitalised in serious but stable condition.
At 3.05 pm, a 62-year-old man was ambushed along Taitt Madhoo Trace, Calcutta No. 2, Freeport. A black Nissan Note stopped in front of his Nissan Navara, and a gunman in a grey hoodie exited and opened fire, missing the driver. The victim reversed and escaped. Police found four spent .40 calibre shells at the scene.
The final incident took place around 8.15 pm on Goodwill Street, Enterprise, where a 20-year-old man was stabbed by one of his friends during an argument while liming. He was stabbed in the chest and remains warded in stable condition.
