Four people were injured in two separate shootings over the weekend in the south and southwestern districts.
The first incident occurred around 6:10 a.m. on Saturday on Sutton Street, San Fernando, near Pavement Bar. Police said three men were walking in the area when they heard several explosions. Two of the victims, 21-year-old Darion Mohan of Second Street, Ste Madeline, and 21-year-old Josiah Scott of Battoo Avenue, Marabella, ran into the bar after being wounded.
Both sustained gunshot wounds to their right feet. They later assisted a third man who was found on the roadway with multiple injuries to his back and body. He was taken to San Fernando General Hospital in critical condition. Officers canvassed the area for CCTV footage and processed items of evidential value while medical reports were requested.
Around 7:35 p.m. the same day, police responded to a shooting on Warden Road, Point Fortin. The victim, 45-year-old construction worker Ferdell Neeranjan of Ariapita Road, St Ann’s, told officers he was approached by a man in a black hoodie and orange three-quarter trousers. A struggle followed, during which Neeranjan suffered a head injury and the suspect fired several shots before fleeing.
Three 9mm spent shells and one live round were recovered. Neeranjan declined medical attention. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact investigators.
