Two women among four hurt in drive-by shooting

A dri­ve-by shoot­ing in New Grant, Princes Town, has left four peo­ple, in­clud­ing two women, nurs­ing in­juries.

The vic­tims, one of whom is a Venezue­lan na­tion­al, were lim­ing around 9.45 pm on Fri­day at Church Road Junc­tion, Sixth Com­pa­ny Cir­cu­lar Road, near Shel­don’s Shop.

Po­lice said a white Nis­san AD wag­on stopped and the oc­cu­pants opened fire, hit­ting two men, aged 42 and 40, of San Fer­nan­do and New Grant re­spec­tive­ly, a 28-year-old Venezue­lan and a 27-year-old woman of New Grant. They were all treat­ed at the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty, but the 40-year-old vic­tim was sent to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for fur­ther treat­ment.

Po­lice of­fi­cers lat­er dis­cov­ered the wag­on with no reg­is­tra­tion plates aban­doned in a bushy area off Down­ing Trace, Pe­tite Cafe.

In­quires re­vealed that the wag­on was re­port­ed stolen from the Tu­na­puna area on Au­gust 25. Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­trieved three spent 5.56 shells in­side the wag­on.

Princes Town po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
