Special voting begins at 8 am today for UNC’s national executive elections which are being held on Saturday. But there is no word from UNC general secretary Peter Kanhai on how many special voters are involved.
The UNC’s election management committee, headed by Darrell Allahar, told Guardian Media yesterday via email, “We can confirm that special voters are expected to cast their ballots at the UNC headquarters in Chaguanas from 8 am to 2 pm. That is as much as the committee wishes to say at this point.”
The election management committee on a previous occasion had also referred queries to the general secretary on the total number of voters registered for the Natex.
Since then, there has been no word from the general secretary, and this continued yesterday. Some UNC head office officials referred the query on the special voter numbers back to the committee.
Kanhai did not reply to texts or calls. Nor did UNC PRO Kirk Meighoo. MPs from the Stars and United Patriots slates couldn’t give figures either.
