The United Nations Resident Coordinator and the United Nations Country Team in Trinidad and Tobago have congratulated Prime Minister-elect Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
In a post to its Facebook page, the body said, "We acknowledge the people of Trinidad and Tobago and their commitment to the democratic process and a peaceful transition of power. The United Nations Team is looking forward to building a close partnership, focusing on the long-term development priorities of the country."
Persad-Bissessar will be sworn in on Thursday afternoon at 4pm at President's House. It marks a return to the position after 10 years out of office.
