Guardian Media Limited (GML) has expressed disappointment in the failure of police officers both the T&T Police Service and the Point Fortin Borough Corporation to take action in connection with the constant vandalism of one of its electronic billboards located in the heart of the borough over the past three months.

The latest attack occurred on Monday at approximately 8 am, where according to a GML’s Head of Operations, Anthony Seegobin, the power to the Point Fortin Billboard was cut.

“Guardian Media Limited was informed by a T&TEC representative who was in the area that there was a fire and the electricity meter was missing.

“GML technicians visited the Point Fortin billboard site and confirmed the electricity meter was missing and evidence of a fire occurring, resulting in damage to the earthing cable and electricity meter cover. Security footage from the billboard surveillance cameras was extracted and reviewed,” Seegobin said.

Seegobin said the company is concerned about what he called the inaction of police officers, as it is alleged that the identity of the suspect is known both by police and residents.

He said the company is losing thousands of dollars every time the property is vandalised.

Seegobin said on Monday at approximately 12.30 pm, a third report was lodged at the Point Fortin Police Station on the incident. However, no receipt was given to the company’s official who made the report.

Although the police claimed officers have not received any reports about the incidents, GML has produced official receipts bearing the stamp of the Point Fortin Police Station.

GML is now appealing to senior police officers to intervene and have the alleged suspect arrested soon.
