A video which start­ed on Tik­Tok and then spread to What­sApp show­ing Prime Min­is­ter Row­ley an­nounc­ing joint po­lice and army pa­trols is from 2016. In the video, the prime min­is­ter is heard say­ing the pa­trols will op­er­ate "vir­tu­al­ly per­ma­nent­ly."

In a re­sponse, Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Fitzger­ald Hinds said on Face­book, "The mis­chief in this coun­try is non-end­ing! There is a video cir­cu­lat­ing this evening, fea­tur­ing the Prime Min­is­ter giv­ing in­struc­tions to his then-min­is­ter, on the gov­ern­ment’s re­sponse to the crime surge at that time. This video is fake!!! Fake in the sense that it is the Prime Min­is­ter speak­ing at a past event and cir­cum­stance. The Prime Min­is­ter gave no such di­rec­tion to me, as the now serv­ing Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty, to­day; or in re­cent days. It is an old record­ing, per­tain­ing to events at that time."
