A man wanted for several robberies in Tobago escaped police after they attempted to intercept his vehicle in Port-of-Spain on Saturday morning.
Police said officers of the Port-of-Spain Task Force were on patrol at the corner of Frederick and Prince Streets when they noticed a white Honda Vezel.
Officers recognised the driver as a Beetham man wanted for crimes in Tobago and attempted to stop the car.
The vehicle did not stop after another occupant pointed a gun at the officers.
Police fired at the car in response, but the suspects drove off and escaped.
Investigators later found the vehicle abandoned in Beetham. It was towed to the Besson Street Police Station for further analysis.
