A man want­ed for sev­er­al rob­beries in To­ba­go es­caped po­lice af­ter they at­tempt­ed to in­ter­cept his ve­hi­cle in Port-of-Spain on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the Port-of-Spain Task Force were on pa­trol at the cor­ner of Fred­er­ick and Prince Streets when they no­ticed a white Hon­da Vezel.

Of­fi­cers recog­nised the dri­ver as a Beetham man want­ed for crimes in To­ba­go and at­tempt­ed to stop the car. 

The ve­hi­cle did not stop af­ter an­oth­er oc­cu­pant point­ed a gun at the of­fi­cers.

Po­lice fired at the car in re­sponse, but the sus­pects drove off and es­caped.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors lat­er found the ve­hi­cle aban­doned in Beetham. It was towed to the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion for fur­ther analy­sis.
