The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has advised that customers in parts of North-East Trinidad served by the Hollis Water Treatment Plant, who are experiencing mild discolouration in their water supply, that this is due to recent heavy rainfall over a short period.
WASA said this situation affected the lake conditions, resulting in some discoloured water entering the transmission and distribution system and added that it is currently carrying out flushing exercises throughout the distribution system which is expected to result in the system fully clearing over the next 24 hours.
Among the areas affected are:
Parts of Arima, D’Abadie and Arouca inclusive Cocorite Road, O'Meara Road, Cleaver Road, Lynton Gardens, Darwill Gardens, La Resource, La Florisante, Lilian Heights, Ridgeview Heights, Riverwood Development, Bon Air North, Bon Air West, Bon Air Gardens, areas along the Eastern Main Road from Arima to Arouca.
WASA said customers who may still be receiving a discoloured supply, to let their taps run until it clears.
