Acting Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) CEO Jeevan Joseph yesterday led his new executive team on a tour of water infrastructure projects in Central Trinidad.
The team visited key sites in the Freeport and Couva supply zones, a release from the authority said.
Chairman Roshan Babwah, commissioner Tawari Tota-Maharaj and T&TEC Chairman Anil Kamal joined the tour, along with representatives from the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation.
The release said the team inspected upgrade works at the Freeport Water Treatment Plant and Freeport Wells #23 and Pipeline Project, which aim to improve capacity and shift communities such as Couva, Carlsen Field, and Freeport from intermittent water supply to scheduled service, ranging from 24/3 to 24/7.
The team also visited the Pt Lisas Desalination Plant operated by Desalcott.
The facility provides potable water to households and businesses in central and south west Trinidad.
Joseph highlighted the significance of the plant in meeting high demand needs.
During community engagements in Central Park and Carli Bay, residents received updates and commitments regarding upcoming improvements in water delivery from the team.
Babwah said the authority remains focused on equitable water distribution and long-term planning, adding ongoing investments are aimed at meeting both current needs and future demand.
The release said the executive team continues to monitor project delivery while maintaining focus on service improvements.
WASA has indicated that accountability and collaboration will guide its operations going forward.
