The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) completed temporary road restoration works on the west-bound lane of the Beetham Highway following a ruptured pipeline and the formation of a sinkhole in the Sea Lots area.
WASA said it received a report of the burst 8-inch main around 1 p.m. on Sunday. A pipeline repair crew was immediately dispatched to the site to carry out emergency works.
The Authority explained that the job was complex due to underground lines belonging to T&TEC and NGC being located near the damaged main.
Repairs and temporary road reinstatement were completed by 5 a.m. on Monday, with additional interim works beginning later that day at 6 p.m. Permanent reinstatement is scheduled for Wednesday.
WASA assured motorists and the travelling public that the restoration works will not affect the normal flow of traffic.
