The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) com­plet­ed tem­po­rary road restora­tion works on the west-bound lane of the Beetham High­way fol­low­ing a rup­tured pipeline and the for­ma­tion of a sink­hole in the Sea Lots area.

WASA said it re­ceived a re­port of the burst 8-inch main around 1 p.m. on Sun­day. A pipeline re­pair crew was im­me­di­ate­ly dis­patched to the site to car­ry out emer­gency works.

The Au­thor­i­ty ex­plained that the job was com­plex due to un­der­ground lines be­long­ing to T&TEC and NGC be­ing lo­cat­ed near the dam­aged main.

Re­pairs and tem­po­rary road re­in­state­ment were com­plet­ed by 5 a.m. on Mon­day, with ad­di­tion­al in­ter­im works be­gin­ning lat­er that day at 6 p.m. Per­ma­nent re­in­state­ment is sched­uled for Wednes­day.

WASA as­sured mo­torists and the trav­el­ling pub­lic that the restora­tion works will not af­fect the nor­mal flow of traf­fic.
