In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the mur­der of a WASA labour­er in San­gre Grande yes­ter­day. Mitchell Dol­land re­port­ed­ly re­ceived death threats from a woman just hours be­fore he was killed.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Dol­land, 33, of Robin­son Lane, San­gre Grande, was at a con­struc­tion site near Rose Av­enue, North East­ern Set­tle­ment, San­gre Grande, around 10.50 am.

Dol­land was there with a group of peo­ple re­port­ed­ly work­ing on a house he was build­ing, when he was ap­proached by two men dressed in blue-coloured cov­er­alls, both armed with firearms.

The men opened fire and the group scat­tered.

How­ev­er, the gun­men pur­sued Dol­land and shot him sev­er­al times.

The men then ran off and es­caped.

Rel­a­tives said Dol­land was threat­ened by some­one he knew mere hours be­fore his killing.

In fact, they said the in­di­vid­ual came to the site where Dol­land was work­ing on the house and fired a gun­shot.

They said he re­port­ed the in­ci­dent to the San­gre Grande po­lice. Rel­a­tives said if of­fi­cers had tak­en his re­port se­ri­ous­ly, he may have been alive.

Dol­land was the fa­ther of two young chil­dren.

Po­lice are now seek­ing to ques­tion a woman known to Dol­land.

Laven­tille man

shot in the face

A Laven­tille man is said to be in sta­ble con­di­tion at hos­pi­tal af­ter be­ing shot in the face.

Po­lice said around 6 yes­ter­day morn­ing a team of of­fi­cers were on mo­bile pa­trol when they re­spond­ed to a re­port of loud ex­plo­sions at La Re­source Road, Laven­tille.

When the of­fi­cers ar­rived at the scene they saw Daniel Prescott, 28, in an open yard, suf­fer­ing from what ap­peared to be gun­shot wounds to the right side of his face and right hand.

The of­fi­cers took Prescott to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Cashier beat­en dur­ing botched rob­bery

A cashier at a whole­sale goods store and liquor mart in Port-of-Spain was beat­en dur­ing an at­tempt­ed rob­bery.

Po­lice said around 7.30 pm on Wednes­day two masked men en­tered Xi Son Zho’s whole­sale and liquor mart and at­tempt­ed to rob the cashier by point­ing a firearm at her.

How­ev­er, the cashier im­me­di­ate­ly chal­lenged one of the as­sailants and a strug­gle en­sued.

Po­lice said both men dealt the cashier sev­er­al blows about the body. Dur­ing the at­tack, the as­sailant’s gun fell to the floor.

They then ran off and es­caped in a wait­ing ve­hi­cle.
