Repairs are underway at the Matura Water Treatment Plant following a temporary shutdown caused by adverse weather and mechanical failure, WASA said Sunday.

Flooded river conditions and clogged intake screens initially disrupted operations. A mechanical fault in the plant’s internal pipeline system later delayed repairs further.

The affected communities include Matura, Salybia, Pierre Street, Gray Trace, Orosco Bay Road, and Mendoza Street.

WASA expects full restoration by Thursday, May 8, though some areas may experience delays of 24 to 48 hours depending on elevation and demand.

In the meantime, truck-borne water is being distributed and a temporary supply schedule is in place for Toco, Matura and Salybia.
