De­silt­ing works are sched­uled to take place at the in­take of the Gua­napo Wa­ter Treat­ment Plant on Wednes­day this week, as the Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) seeks to op­ti­mize pro­duc­tion at the fa­cil­i­ty.

As such, cus­tomers in parts of North-East Trinidad, served by the Gua­napo fa­cil­i­ty can ex­pect to ex­pe­ri­ence an in­ter­rup­tion in their wa­ter sup­ply, be­tween the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on March 6, 2024.

Ar­eas to be af­fect­ed are parts of Ari­ma in­clud­ing Pin­to Road, Mt. Pleas­ant, Alenore Gar­dens, Cal­vary, Sanchez Street, Long­den Street, Bye Pass Road, Ma­tu­ri­ta, La Re­treat Road, Blan­chisseuse Road.

WASA says ser­vice should be re­stored by 3:00 pm on Wednes­day at the ear­li­est, but re­minds cus­tomers that fol­low­ing restart of the Plant, it may take up to 24 hours for the ser­vice to nor­mal­ize to some af­fect­ed ar­eas, in ac­cor­dance with es­tab­lished wa­ter sup­ply sched­ules.
