TRINIDAD, TO­BA­GO AND THE RE­MAIN­DER OF THE LESS­ER AN­TILLES

To­day, most­ly sun­ny con­di­tions are ex­pect­ed, apart from a few show­ery in­ter­rup­tions. There is al­so a low (30%) chance of iso­lat­ed af­ter­noon heavy show­ers or thun­der­storms favour­ing south-west­ern ar­eas. Night will be part­ly cloudy with oc­ca­sion­al show­ers.  Gusty winds and street flood­ing are like­ly near heavy show­ers and thun­der­storms.

A River­ine Flood Alert #4 – OR­ANGE Lev­el re­mains ac­tive for most of Wednes­day, for com­mu­ni­ties sur­round­ing ma­jor and mi­nor rivers and their trib­u­taries.

Some riv­er lev­els across Trinidad are on a very slow de­cline, with oth­ers re­main­ing near full ca­pac­i­ty. Runoff is slow due to sat­u­rat­ed soils and any ad­di­tion­al rain­fall will cause fur­ther de­lay. Some im­pact­ed com­mu­ni­ties are still at mod­er­ate to high risk of ad­verse im­pact.

Wa­ter lev­els are ex­pect­ed to de­crease in most ar­eas, slow­ly but per­sis­tent­ly. Note, though, that run off will al­so be slow­er at high tide, which will be at 9:54 am on Wednes­day 30 No­vem­ber 2022.

In­struc­tions:     Mon­i­tor weath­er con­di­tions and riv­er lev­els be­fore ven­tur­ing out. Avoid ar­eas with flood wa­ters. Mon­i­tor up­dates from of­fi­cial sources and plan safe­ty mea­sures, in­clud­ing emer­gency sup­plies of food and wa­ter. Fol­low the in­struc­tions of gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials.
