Women across T&T who are 18 years and older have until Friday to get their applications in for free training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), through the Ministry of Digital Transformation
A release from the Ministry says applications are open until January 19, 2024, to access free, online courses being provided by global skills provider, SimpliLearn.
“These no-cost-to-user e-learning courses provide a unique opportunity for women to break barriers, develop skills and contribute to the technological landscape of Trinidad and Tobago,” the release said.
According to the Ministry, the curriculum was created by Microsoft, IMB, Meta, Google, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Training facilitator, SimpliLearn, offers a self-paced online learning approach with hands-on activities, labs, and projects.
“In an industry where diversity and inclusion are crucial for innovation, the Ministry recognizes the importance of fostering a supportive environment for women to excel in ICT. This initiative is part of our commitment to empower women to thrive in the rapidly evolving world of technology,” the Ministry said.
The courses on offer include, among others: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Introduction to Cyber Security, AWS Big Data Certification Training, and Python Training.
Those wishing to apply must do so by Friday. The courses are open to women who are 18 years of age and older, and who have expressed a desire to pursue a career in the field of ICT.
Applicants also must have either qualified in or been exposed to ICT for a minimum of one year. Academic achievements should be listed.
In addition, applicants must submit a personal statement, in one paragraph, outlining their career goals and their intended contribution to Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry says on successful completion of all course assessments, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion which will enable them to advance their careers or businesses in the ICT Field.
