Women across T&T who are 18 years and old­er have un­til Fri­day to get their ap­pli­ca­tions in for free train­ing in In­for­ma­tion and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Tech­nol­o­gy (ICT), through the Min­istry of Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion

A re­lease from the Min­istry says ap­pli­ca­tions are open un­til Jan­u­ary 19, 2024, to ac­cess free, on­line cours­es be­ing pro­vid­ed by glob­al skills provider, Sim­pliLearn.

“These no-cost-to-user e-learn­ing cours­es pro­vide a unique op­por­tu­ni­ty for women to break bar­ri­ers, de­vel­op skills and con­tribute to the tech­no­log­i­cal land­scape of Trinidad and To­ba­go,” the re­lease said.

Ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry, the cur­ricu­lum was cre­at­ed by Mi­crosoft, IMB, Meta, Google, and Ama­zon Web Ser­vices (AWS).  Train­ing fa­cil­i­ta­tor, Sim­pliLearn, of­fers a self-paced on­line learn­ing ap­proach with hands-on ac­tiv­i­ties, labs, and projects.

“In an in­dus­try where di­ver­si­ty and in­clu­sion are cru­cial for in­no­va­tion, the Min­istry rec­og­nizes the im­por­tance of fos­ter­ing a sup­port­ive en­vi­ron­ment for women to ex­cel in ICT. This ini­tia­tive is part of our com­mit­ment to em­pow­er women to thrive in the rapid­ly evolv­ing world of tech­nol­o­gy,” the Min­istry said.

The cours­es on of­fer in­clude, among oth­ers: In­tro­duc­tion to Ar­ti­fi­cial In­tel­li­gence, In­tro­duc­tion to Cy­ber Se­cu­ri­ty, AWS Big Da­ta Cer­ti­fi­ca­tion Train­ing, and Python Train­ing.

Those wish­ing to ap­ply must do so by Fri­day.  The cours­es are open to women who are 18 years of age and old­er, and who have ex­pressed a de­sire to pur­sue a ca­reer in the field of ICT.

Ap­pli­cants al­so must have ei­ther qual­i­fied in or been ex­posed to ICT for a min­i­mum of one year. Aca­d­e­m­ic achieve­ments should be list­ed.

In ad­di­tion, ap­pli­cants must sub­mit a per­son­al state­ment, in one para­graph, out­lin­ing their ca­reer goals and their in­tend­ed con­tri­bu­tion to Trinidad and To­ba­go.

The Min­istry says on suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of all course as­sess­ments, par­tic­i­pants will re­ceive a Cer­tifi­cate of Com­ple­tion which will en­able them to ad­vance their ca­reers or busi­ness­es in the ICT Field.
