A windscreen-cleaning operation along the San Fernando Bypass ended in court for two men, with one pleading guilty to obstructing traffic and the other denying the charges.
Atkinson Amoroso, 23, of Laventille pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Amina Deonarinesingh in the San Fernando Third Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He was placed on a 12-month bond to keep the peace, in default of which he will serve three days’ imprisonment.
Kevon Patrick, 24, of La Romaine pleaded not guilty to both charges. His $1,000 bail was continued, and the matter was adjourned to December 14, 2026.
The two men were arrested on Wednesday near SuperPharm along the San Fernando Bypass.
According to police, the arrests were made during a road traffic operation involving uniformed officers, some of whom were travelling in an unmarked police vehicle.
Woman Police Constable (WPC) Warrick-Hamilton said she saw Amoroso and Patrick cleaning the windscreen of a stationary red Toyota Yaris Cross that was not involved in an accident.
She said their actions would have prevented the vehicle from moving forward when the traffic lights turned green.
Both men allegedly ran when she approached, but she chased and caught them.
During the chase, Amoroso told WPC Warrick-Hamilton, “Boss, is my first day doing this.”
While Patrick allegedly said, “What allyuh on, I will call my aunt who is police, and she will sort this out.”
Police seized their cleaning equipment. Amoroso had a black squeegee and a grey bucket, while Patrick had a red squeegee and a black bucket.
