Police are probing a home invasion in Williamsville on Wednesday during which a 44-year-old woman was beaten.

Police said around 9 am, the woman was at her Mayo Road home with her 74-year-old relative, when four men, one armed with a firearm, accosted her in the downstairs apartment. They tied her hands and feet.

One of the bandits dealt her several blows about her body while she was tied up while the others stole her jewellery, cell phone, and wallet.

Her elderly relative came downstairs and was restrained by the suspects who took them upstairs, where they stole a television, more jewellery, a DVR, a tablet and another phone.

They left in the woman's black Hyundai Elantra, which was later found abandoned at Bontere Trace, Willismaville. Investigations are continuing.

Teen girl injured as bandit stole her mom's car

A 15-year-old girl was injured when a gunman stole her mother's vehicle as she left a Chinese restaurant in Barrackpore on Wednesday.

The incident occurred outside Kam Long Chinese Restaurant on Rochard Douglas Road and was captured on CCTV footage.

Police said the suspect was standing nearby when the 48-year-old woman returned to her vehicle around 5:15 pm. The woman's teen daughter was seated in the front passenger seat. As the woman opened the driver's door, the suspect ran up to her and pushed her to the ground. He then entered the vehicle. The woman's daughter opened the door and jumped out, but went back in an attempt to retrieve something.

It was then the gunman reversed the vehicle and struck the 15-year-old girl before driving off. Police said her foot was injured.

Officers from the Barrackpore Police Station are investigating.

During my consultation with Ms Brafit CEO Nicole Joseph-Chin, what was supposed to be a simple mastectomy bra fitting became something much deeper. Her thoughtful questions unlocked emotions I didn’t even realise I was holding in. She comforted, reassured, and helped me face the truth of what was coming. That bra wasn’t just clothing—it was the first real symbol of life after surgery.
