Less than a month after she was shot in her home, a Princes Town mother of four has died.
Fifty-seven-year-old Wendy Thomas of Solomon Street, Cedar Hill Village, Princes Town, died at 9.17 pm in the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General Hospital on Tuesday.
Thomas was in her gallery at 10.10 pm on January 27 when a man entered her yard and shot her in the chest.
Police arrested a 32-year-old resident the following day and charged him with attempted murder and possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Thomas’ uncle Keith Thomas, 63, told Guardian Media yesterday that his niece and the suspect were arguing because he did a transport job for her some time ago and was demanding payment.
Lamenting the spike in violence within the country, he said, “It is like the wild, wild, west now and people want to settle their own score. These are the times that we are living in. We are in the end times and the devil is moving around looking to take who he could take.”
He said funeral arrangements were not yet finalised.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region III are investigating.
