A 21-year-old woman was stabbed mul­ti­ple times dur­ing an at­tempt­ed rob­bery on the El So­cor­ro walkover on Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the woman was walk­ing south to­wards DHL when a man ap­proach­ing from the op­po­site di­rec­tion tried to grab her hand­bag. She re­sist­ed, and dur­ing the strug­gle, the ban­dit stabbed her sev­er­al times be­fore flee­ing with­out the bag.

Her fa­ther, who was near­by, took her to hos­pi­tal where she was treat­ed for stab wounds to the back, neck and scalp. She re­mains in sta­ble con­di­tion and is ex­pect­ed to un­der­go a CT scan.

Barataria po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
