Wear­ing their uni­forms proud­ly, fe­male law en­force­ment of­fi­cers marched through the streets of Siparia in cel­e­bra­tion of In­ter­na­tion­al Women’s Day.

Or­gan­ised by the South West­ern Di­vi­sion women po­lice, the cel­e­bra­tions be­gan with a prayer ser­vice at the La Div­ina Pas­to­ra RC Church where the of­fi­cers wor­shipped with prayers and songs.

This was fol­lowed with the mil­i­tary pa­rade which kicked off around 11.35 am from the church.

Ex­cit­ed school chil­dren from near­by, in­clud­ing St Brigid’s Girls RC School, New Be­gin­ners EC­CE School and Siparia Boys RC School, lined the streets, clap­ping, wav­ing and even march­ing as the pa­rade passed.

Ac­com­pa­nied by the TTPS band, the pa­rade, led by Ag Supt Theodo­ra Per­sad, cul­mi­nat­ed at Ir­win Park. Par­tic­i­pat­ing in the pa­rade were of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion, Fire Ser­vice, Air Guard, Coast Guard and Traf­fic War­den De­part­ment. The cel­e­bra­tions will con­tin­ue at Ir­win Park with a mi­ni-con­cert.
