Wearing their uniforms proudly, female law enforcement officers marched through the streets of Siparia in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Organised by the South Western Division women police, the celebrations began with a prayer service at the La Divina Pastora RC Church where the officers worshipped with prayers and songs.
This was followed with the military parade which kicked off around 11.35 am from the church.
Excited school children from nearby, including St Brigid’s Girls RC School, New Beginners ECCE School and Siparia Boys RC School, lined the streets, clapping, waving and even marching as the parade passed.
Accompanied by the TTPS band, the parade, led by Ag Supt Theodora Persad, culminated at Irwin Park. Participating in the parade were officers of the South Western Division, Fire Service, Air Guard, Coast Guard and Traffic Warden Department. The celebrations will continue at Irwin Park with a mini-concert.
