A worker's weekly salary was among several items stolen by bandits who stormed a grocery in Enterprise, Chaguanas, on Friday night.
Police said three workers were at the business place on Tobago Road, at around 7:55 pm, when three gunmen walked into the store and announced a robbery.
The bandits ordered the trio to lie down on the ground while they stole some $8,865 from the cash register, as well as a wallet containing the worker's salary of $1,400 and mobile phones, before walking out of the store and escaping.
Officers of the Chaguanas CID were called in and are continuing enquiries.
In an unrelated incident a few hours earlier on Friday afternoon, police arrested a man after he drove off with a taxi driver's car in Cunupia.
Police said the driver was plying the car for hire on Monroe Road, near a bar at around 1:47 pm.
The man pretended to be a passenger and sat in the car as the driver waited for other passengers.
Shortly afterwards, the driver, who had left the keys in the ignition, noticed the car was driving off as another passenger informed him that the stranger was stealing the car.
Officers of the Central Division Task Force were called in and intercepted the car on the southbound lane of the Sir Solomon-Hochoy Highway.
The bandit, who is from Warrenville, was arrested and taken to the Cunupia Police Station for questioning.
Investigations continue.
